Program Structure
The Women Making a Difference Award honors women who have made outstanding achievements in their professional, business or volunteer activities. Awardees have demonstrated exemplary character, integrity and leadership; and, have been visible and vocal in their field. Their activities relate to at least one of the following areas: economic and social development, education, environment, health, human rights/status of women, and international goodwill and understanding. Local Club Awardees are nominated for regional recognition.
Soroptimist International of Marin County is honored to have had two of our recent Women of Distinction awardees receive the regional award. In 2002 District Attorney Paula Kamena received the regional award at conference in Hawaii. In 2004 Deborah Santana, writer, vice-president of the non-profit Milagro Foundation and Chief Operations Officer of the New Santana Band, received the award in Guam.
