Fundraising

Our fundraising programs benefit everyone in the community, but especially women and children. Basically, we raise money and then give it away, as well as donating time and energy to the community.
Our Club has provided many outstanding services:
Some of the international projects which we have been involved in are providing schools and educational opportunities for girls in Nepal, safe water for villages in Senegal, setting up a network of clinics for children in Bangladesh, providing vocational training for women in India, Western Samoa and Brazil, and helping victims maimed by landmines by supplying artificial limbs and training people to remove landmines in Laos and in Angola.
Our Club has provided many outstanding services:
- Raised $35,000 through our event "Ruby Award Dinner & Dance". These funds benefited First Responders Support Network’s program for life partners of first responders.
- Raised $20,000 through our event "Lunch With Belva Davis" and other fundraisers. These funds benefited Homeward Bound, WCPR and other Soroptimist projects.
- Raised over $200,000 in funds for the Jeannette Prandi Children's Center. The Center is used to interview sexually abused children and to eliminate the trauma of multiple interviews.

Who We Support
The Jeannette Prandi Children’s Center is a child-friendly, state of the art forensic interview center for children suspected of being abused. Soroptimist International of Marin County was a founding contributor to the Center, and it is one of our club’s identifying projects. We collaborate with the Center in providing educational programs on a variety of issues.
Recent topics include human trafficking, missing children and on-line predators, and challenges to family relationships in the digital age. Jeannette Prandi was the first female Sergeant in the Marin County Sheriff’s Office, and served for many years as the investigator for juvenile cases. SOS Program of the First Responder Support Network is a six day residential critical incident debriefing program for the Significant Others and Spouses of emergency responders who suffer from post-traumatic stress. In treating the first responders, retreat practitioners discovered early on that the families of these brave individuals suffer vicarious traumatization. Thus, SOS was born and flourishes today.
Public agencies often pay for first responders to receive assistance, but not for their family members. SIMC provides scholarships to SOS to cover the cost of the program for partners of first responders so they have access to healing, education, and support.
